A Birthday Bash for Allison

So as some of you might know, two weekends ago, Allison, (the girl I’m dating) had a birthday! Originally I had just planned to do something with her once I got back to Michigan, but when some of her own birthday plans fell through for the weekend before the 24 th , I figured it would be a great time to invite her to PA(:Because, ya know, there’s nothing like experiencing the Kennedy family in real-life. Thankfully my family was totally down for her coming, and we started planning a classic Kennedy birthday bash. I think I can comfortably say that calling it an AWESOME weekend for all of us would be a SEVERE understatement. What follows though is a list of the highlights, in no particular order (although inevitably, some of the better parts will be at the beginning). The Birthday Theme: While this fact will DEFINTELY date Glo is the craziest artist. She did this without me even asking... this post for future generations, we decided to go wi

The Philadelphia Temple Open House

For the past year, I have been watching the progress of the construction on the Philadelphia temple.  Although construction began several years ago, it's only been over the last little while that obvious things have happened.  You know, things like walls :-) Every Wednesday, when Glo and I head down to Philly, I drop her off at her lesson, find a nearby parking space, and head out walking.  I've done this for the past seven years of driving kids to lessons, but it's been rather fun to have a goal now.  I can actually see the temple spires from Amy's front porch, so it's not hard to get to.  After seeing what progress has been made in the last seven days, I walk up to the art museum (yo ADRIAN!), and then walk back to the temple.  It's several miles of walking, and not only is it good for my legs, but it's good for my soul. We have been told as church members to rejoice over the building of a temple, and yesterday, in Relief Society, our teacher asked us

Pokemon Go

When people reflect back on the 2010s (is that what this decade will be called?), I suspect there will be at least one thing mentioned:  PokemonGo.  While I don't know if it will claim the fame Beanie Babies have from the 2000s, or parachute pants have from the 80s, I'm sure it will make the list...along with Donald Trump. I'm going to leave it to Wikipedia to describe the game itself: Pokémon Go  (stylized as  Pokémon GO ) is a  free-to-play ,  location-based   augmented reality game  developed by  Niantic  for  iOS  and  Android  devices. It was initially released in selected countries in July 2016. In the game, players use a mobile device's  GPS  capability to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called  Pokémon , who appear on the screen as if they were in the same real-world location as the player. I was at Interlochen when I got a text from Hannie asking if I'd tried it yet.  In all honesty, I didn't even know what she was talking ab

Party at the Пляж (Plyazh, or Beach): Jurmala

When I first found out I would be going to Riga for six weeks this summer and I looked up the area, one of the first things that came up was the neighboring town of Jurmala. First I thought it was strange how I got a neighboring town for my search when it definitely said Riga, but whatever. Absentmindedly I decided to look up this tiny town anyways. And it seemed even more weird then when, upon doing research, I found out Jurmala was advertised as one of the best beach locations in Eastern Europe. According to it' s Wikipedia site I read, I found out the beach only has soft white quartz sand, and stretches for a whopping 21 miles (32), making it one of the largest beaches in Europe and definitely in the Baltic States.   Call me jaded or pessimistic, but that seemed a little over exaggerated/optimistic. I mean, Eastern Europe with its crazy weather can' t have beaches right? Funny enough, it can. And not only that, but it rocks the socks off the beach game. Looking fo
