Michigan and the Morans: can life get ANY better?!

My dreams have come true.  The Morans came to Michigan.  I can now die a happy woman. We gave them the tour of the place.  Mark's concert at Hill Auditorium.  Zingerman's at night.  The stadium the night before a game.  A visit to Meijer for game day gear.  The game itself.  Board games afterwards. And although they didn't join us, Mark fulfilled another dream of mine.  Rowing.  Like in a boat that is legit.  And will almost tip with the slightest movement.  My back might have been thrown out for the next week, but it was completely worth it! Zingerman's.  We actually closed down the place, sitting outside on a beautiful Fall evening.   It's no visit to Ann Arbor without a visit to the stadium the night before a game.  Jared tried as he might to get us INSIDE the stadium by sweet talking the security guard, but with no luck (darn it!). A perfectly timed picture.  Jared jumped just as Mark took it.  (You gotta love Mark's tux... The morning

Air Force Marathon, 2015

19 years and counting.  That's how many years John has been participating in the Air Force marathon.  And when I say participating, I mean running the entire 26.2 mile distance each year.  We framed the first ten years of medals, but I'm thinking we need to reopen that frame and frame the rest. This year, I was running the 10K, a completely reasonable distance for someone like me who isn't running much these days. We had a crazy plan:  drop Glo off in Toledo so she could stay with her brothers for the weekend and attend the UNLV/Michigan game with them, drive down to Dayton, run the marathon, and drive back up on Sunday to pick up Glo and drive home.  On paper, it seemed fairly easy, but the turnpike construction gods had different plans...as well as John's improper sense of time. John told me that packet pick-up ended at 9 p.m. on Friday night.  With us planning on leaving around noon from State College, that gave us 30 minutes bonus time to get there.  I wasn

Michigan Football, 2015

Well, as time passes, and Niki becomes a distant memory (hopefully to be soon a completely forgotten memory), we are finding more and more good things about the engagement being called off.  One of the bonuses for me is an extra season football ticket to all of the Michigan games!  What's a little six hour drive to sit in the Big House with my kids and watch a live game?  It's nothing.  Nothing, I tell you! The first home game was against Boise State.  Unfortunately, we lost the first game of the season to Utah, but it didn't feel like a loss to me.  With Jim Harbaugh now leading the Wolverines, the team needs time to find their footing.  They did well enough against Utah.  However, having lost so many "gimme" games in the past few years, I was still holding my breath. When I showed up in Ann Arbor, I headed straight over to the dock that happens to be in Mark and Ethan's apartment complex.  Mark is an assistant rowing coach for one of the high school men
